Big Blue Blog, Gone But Not Forgotten

Posted by fringefamous on 20th June 2008

Big Blue Blog

It’s been a while since I’ve ripped on Guthrie Corp., so I thought I’d cruise on over to the Big Blue Blog to see what I’ve been missing. As you can see by the above pic, the answer is…nothing. The G hasn’t posted anything on their blog in over a month.

There could be several reasons for this. The peeps over at the G could be super busy preparing for any number of upcoming shows. Maybe the actors currently on stahge (that’s how I like to imagine Guthrie actors pronouncing it) are working out some new pre-show breathing exercises. Maybe the G just plain forgot it had a Big Blue Blog.

My take — and this is only speculation — is that somebody at the G thought that having a blog would be super cool. It’d be a neat way to connect with the youth of today and build a base of young theatre-goers for the future. Having a blog would give the Guthrie a way to communicate with its audience on a more personal level, allowing their patrons to have online discussions with actors, directors, and administrators. The G could use the Big Blue Blog to keep audiences interested in what’s going on at the theatre and entertained even when the theatre is dark or there’s a real snoozer on stahge.

My take? Somebody at Guthrie Corp. had a vision that the Big Blue Blog could do all of these really wonderful things…and then that person got hit by a train.

And that’s why you live every day to the fullest, people!
